Extending Ava Clastics with proprietary analogue data, schemas and rules
Let's explore integrations for Ava Clastics
Many of our clients have invested in the acquisition of analogue data and in the development of proprietary methodologies and technologies. These data and approaches are often complementary to the standard capabilities of Ava Clastics. This is why, building on PDS' experience of working with energy companies for over 30 years, productising their R&D and developing data integration solutions, we offer a variety of options to extend our Ava products.
Data integration
Our clients generally have access to one or more additional analogue datasets, often based on internal studies/fieldwork. This data complements the databases available in Ava Clastics and it is therefore desirable to federate this data so that it can be both visualised and used directly in the Ava Clastics workflows. Experience has shown us that one of the main barriers to integrating different data sources is the variety of nomenclature and also schemas used to describe the analogue data. Today we offer an Ava Clastics data management portal to all customers which has the following capabilities:
- Upload proprietary datasets using our analogue data template into the Data Management Portal
- Automatically validate company proprietary data using our Validation service
- Augment company datasets with background information (text summaries, graphics, links, etc)
- Role-based access ensures that the data is made available when ready and the process is controlled by company data custodians/experts
We are also actively developing new approaches and solutions to give our clients the option to more effectively integrate this data in future, such as explicit options to edit schemas.
Customisation of existing Ava rules
To convert analogue data for use in the Ava Clastics workflows such as conditioning of 3D facies modelling algorithms, we use peer-reviewed approaches that we have codified for this purpose. However, we also recognise that some companies have their own approaches to derive key inputs for standard modelling algorithms. This is why our rule set for Ava Clastics is extensible, allowing company experts to both control and optimise the conversion of analogue data for their organisation.
Integration with proprietary algorithms
Many groups have developed proprietary algorithms for facies modelling and also other workflows such as forward modelling. We have worked with clients to extend Ava Clastics to inform proprietary algorithms alongside the standard algorithms provided by the mainstream modelling platforms. This enables the direct application of analogue data from Ava Clastics to generate inputs for these algorithms.
Other R&D
The PDS team has extensive experience working with company R&D groups, turning their ideas into usable products which they can deploy internally. We work with these companies for the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through deployment, to support and maintenance. Learn more about PDS Group here.
