Reservoir compartmentalisation is a major uncertainty in subsurface modelling. Poorly understood reservoir compartments and the connections between them affect the volume of movable fluids and can have a serious impact on project viability and profitability.
Ava Structure guides geoscientists through the QC of seismic structural interpretations, and through the subsequent investigation of the impact of subseismic fault tip uncertainties on compartmentalisation and flow impairment.
Combining peer-reviewed methodologies with proprietary data
The Ava Structure workflows are underpinned by a powerful combination of PDS' proprietary approach for estimating fault throw and structural geology methods/rules drawn from the published literature.
To perform rigorous seismic structural assessment
PDS proprietary throw calculation and peer-reviewed methods support an unbiased assessment of the quality of fault interpretations. Statistics related to the whole fault network are also available at this stage.
Highlighting these issues and anomalies during the interpretation phase of a project allows the interpreter to deliver the best possible fault set.
Assess likely fault-related compartmentalisation
Once the interpreted faults are assessed, Ava Structure uses a probablistic linear regression to investigate the likely subseismic fault extent and the potential for segmentation. Different scenarios are created which represent more/less sub-seismic extension in the network.
Generate alternative structural frameworks
The different scenarios created during the assessment step can be converted into fault interpretations which can be exported into the modelling platform of choice, supporting the construction of multiple alternative structural frameworks.
