Ava Clastics
SaaS technologies for smarter geoscience workflows
Ava Clastics
Ava Clastics© guides geoscientists through facies modelling and uncertainty workflows, helping them to select the most appropriate sets of analogue information from company datastores, and to compare and contrast these with corresponding analogue data sets from the world's leading analogue libraries developed by the University of Leeds.
Powered by world-class databases
At the heart of Ava Clastics© is a collection of world-class sedimentological analogue databases created by the University of Leeds. The databases incorporate information from both modern and ancient fluvial, shallow-marine and deep-marine successions considered to represent potential analogues to present-day hydrocarbon reservoirs and CO2/H2 storage sites.
Access to all three databases comes with Ava Clastics as standard.
Delivered with a library of insights ready for use
We've just launched the Ava Clastics© Depositional Concept Library, a suite of more than 500 ready-to-use Depositional Concepts based on the available case studies. These concepts save the users time by pre-filtered the information associated with each case study, presenting only the relevant charts.
The first release of the PDS Depositional Concept library in September will be followed by two further releases in 2024, which will focus on (1) information related to key sedimentary element types and (2) information based on key geological priors.
Complemented by peer-reviewed methodologies and proprietary data
Ava Clastics© uses peer-reviewed methodologies to convert sedimentary analogue data into the inputs required to support a variety of workflows, including the direct use of analogue data to condition 3D facies models.
Our technologies are extensible. It is possible to use our advanced charting/filtering environment together with other analogue databases. For companies with access to proprietary or 3rd party databases, we support the federation of these additional data sources and offer a dedicated data management and ingestion portal for data custodians and experts. It is also possible to incorporate company proprietary approaches to derive parameter sets.
To generate key inputs for uncertainty modelling
The first of the three key end-user workflows in Ava Clastics© allows users to select relevant analogue information, including from multiple sources, and use this to dynamically generate distributions and ranges for key input to uncertainty workflows, like thickness, NtG and shape factor.
This workflow is available to all Ava Clastics© users from a web browser, so these inputs can be used in a variety of uncertainty workflows.
To condition 3D facies models using analogue data
Analogue data can be used to inform element proportions and spatial transitions for conditioning during the creation of 3D facies models. Ava Clastics© dynamically converts filtered analogue data into inputs for the main 3D facies modelling algorithms used in the industry.
Subscribers to Ava Clastics have the option to use our dedicated connector to apply inputs to the facies modelling process in the Petrel® E&P software platform.
To compare analogues and QC existing facies models
Often geoscientists are working with pre-existing 3 facies models and/or multiple potential analogues. Our dedicated QC workflow allows Ava Clastics© subscribers to directly compare analogues and also analogues with both 3D facies models and well logs.
Our dedicated Ava connector for the Petrel® E&P software platform is required to compare well logs and facies models.
