Commercial Release of Ava Saturation

Software to optimise the saturation modelling workflow.

London, UK – Monday 5th November 2018: Good quality saturation models are key to reducing the discrepancy between static and dynamic volume estimates, but the ad hoc nature of current workflows means exploring uncertainty around saturation modelling is a time consuming and error-prone process.
Our commercial release of Ava Saturation delivers improved functionality to make the building of saturation height functions more intuitive, reproducible and faster, while at the same time giving you more overall control of your data.

Now available: Skelt-Harrison function

Correctly calculating the hydrocarbon volume of a field relies on the ability to rapidly and consistently assess the impact of applying multiple saturation height functions to a dataset.
We’ve supported the FOIL function (Cuddy et al., 1993) since the initial Ava Saturation launch and now we’ve added the possibility to calculate saturation height functions using the Skelt-Harrison method (Skelt & Harrison, 1995) too. This means you can quickly calculate multiple saturation height functions and map them directly into your Petrel* E&P software platform reservoir models.

Time-consuming and error-filled inputted calculator statements are now a thing of the past too. Ava Saturation now takes care of calculating the height above free water level and water saturation properties for you.

The new ‘Explore Data’ area: Giving you control of your data

While Ava Saturation is all about simplifying and streamlining the calculation of saturation height functions, no two reservoirs are the same. We think it’s important to give you the freedom to explore what your data tells you about the geology, so you can adapt your models accordingly.
You can now explore/interrogate your data and independently work with your saturation height functions.
In the newly created ‘Explore Data’ area we’ve added enhanced charting options including histograms and fully customisable charts. You can choose to display data on linear/log scales or to limit your chart ranges. And you can also investigate exactly what’s happening with your data because Ava Saturation now supports height above water and bulk volume of water calculations.

There’s now the option to choose if you want to apply all your calculated height functions to the 3D Grid in your reservoir model at the same time. We’ve implemented an all new function mapping workflow which gives you full control to pick which function(s) are applied. Likewise, this can now be done for particular zones/segments/facies etc. with new support for facies filtering.

Let us know what you think

Reserves estimates are crucial and accurate saturation height functions are key to getting them right. We’ve built Ava Saturation to give you the tools when and where you need them, so you can make sure this important task is done correctly – the first time, every time. We have many ideas on where Ava Saturation can grow, but no idea is as important to us as yours. If you have ideas of how Ava Saturation can be improved, please visit our website to leave your feedback.
